Great Content Ahead! But You Have to Register First

Great Content Ahead! But You Have to Register First

Writen by Meryl K. Evans

I found a great article and forwarded it to a colleague who might benefit from it. The colleague emailed me and said he couldn’t access it because he didn’t have a login ID. He didn’t want to mess with registration, even though it was free.

My list of IDs and passwords is huge. When I open the list, its contents take several screens to view, with each screen having multiple columns. I bought software to help me manage this giant mess. Some sites require email as an ID while others use a name of your choice as long as it has the minimum number of characters required, and someone else hasn’t already claimed it.

With each site having varying rules, it’s impossible to limit my choices to two or three login IDs. Microsoft works around this with its Passport, but many sites don’t use it, and people don’t trust having one login for multiple sites. It’s funny how some people don’t want one global login account, considering many use the same password for everything.

Why torture with registration?

If many people dislike memberships, even when it’s free, and won’t sign up unless it’s information they need, then why bother? For one, it provides the company with your information. Any shared information is gold to a business and its marketing department. The more they have, the better they know you and your needs so they can provide them through paid products and services.

Sign-ins also help businesses track their membership activities to determine what works and what doesn’t work, which articles are popular and which stink. On the plus side, it ensures the members get content they want and keeps out the topics that are “bad apples.”

For one of my columns, I studied the statistics to see which articles did well and which fell flat. I also reviewed the best articles on the site. Using the data I collected, I modified my column, and the first one after that received the best results ever.

On the other hand, how effective are these registration-required sites? Many users have gotten wise to the registration process and enter phony information along with a BugMeNot entry or a junk email address, which users enter whenever a site asks for an email address that they don’t want to provide (typically free accounts like Yahoo and Hotmail or IDs like Mickey Mouse and Charlie Brown).

The frustration of teasers

Once a person enters a site and clicks on a link to an article that sounds interesting, three things often happen:

1. The site indicates membership is required, so the visitor must sign in or register for a free account.

2. The site provides a paragraph of the article and says, “Want more? Sign up or log in.”

3. The article appears in its full glory without the user having to do anything.

Obviously, number three would be the best choice, as it has no barriers stopping the reader from accessing the content. Number one is upfront about requiring membership and gets right to the point. Number two is obviously a teaser, and those don’t go over well with many users. Number two wastes more time than number one because of the time you spend reading the partial content (if it’s not immediately obvious that the complete article isn’t available).

When referencing an article requiring sign up, providing that information with the reference saves the user time. For example:

Watch Me Do That Online [Free sign-in required]

Vlogs struggle to come up with fresh programming

by Sarah Boxer, The New York Times

This tells the reader that the article requires registration to view it, and it’s from The New York Times. So, based on whether or not the user is registered on the site or takes the BugMeNot approach, it’s easy to make a quick decision about whether or not to bother. However, not everyone takes this approach. I sent an article from a registration-required site thinking it didn’t require sign-in because not all content on the site requires signing in; however, I was mistaken.

Preventing “walk aways”

When newsletter publishers like InternetVIZ select “Best of Web” articles for a newsletter, we avoid pointing to sites requiring registration. Some sites don’t require it when an article comes out, but after a certain amount of time has passed, it requests your login ID. We avoid those, too, because they may not be registration-free by the time the newsletter goes out, or they won’t be accessible from the archives.

Sites that charge for content, on the other hand, are not typically an issue. Subscribers of fee-based content know the content is not likely to be accessible and wouldn’t post such references in their newsletters, blogs or Web sites.

The Internet has miles of information free for the reading. We’re overwhelmed and overloaded. So whatever barriers get in the way are likely to incite more “walk aways” than new members.

A few smart e-commerce sites, aware of this barrier, don’t require the user to register to add things into the cart. Some offer the option of signing up with the benefit of remembering your information the next time you visit, or you can check all the way out by providing the basic data of shipping, billing and email addresses (sometimes optional).

Putting it in their hands

With registration sites receiving phony information or BugMeNot IDs, will the trend change either way? Not likely. Even if all the publishers in the world teamed up and said, “We’re going to create a law that registration shall be required on every site so we’re all on equal ground” — an utterly ridiculous idea — there will be many who refuse to implement the barrier.

The least we can do is let people know when an article requires registration. That way, the decision about whether to sign up or not is in our readers’ hands.

Effective Internet Marketing Tools that Profit

Effective Internet Marketing Tools that Profit

Writen by Jim Bradley

If you own a web site yourself or know someone that does, you are probably familiar with the importance of internet marketing tools. The site may have a professional design, quality product or service, great content and functionality, but if the right internet marketing strategies are not utilized, your site may not be attracting the key to real success, highly targeted traffic. Getting a lot of consistent traffic has very little to do with the web site itself, but rather how the sites owner or webmaster choose to advertise the site. There are hundreds even thousands of sites competing on the web today, so you must use the most effective internet marketing tools to achieve targeted results.

There are many different internet marketing tools that can be used effectively, all of which are designed to increase your web sites traffic. Simply put, you must find a way to get people to your site. Put yourself in the "shoes" of your prospective visitors and clients. "Where do they go to do web searches?" is a key question that must be answered and can be quite simple to answer, the search engine. The webs most popular sites are search engines and portals, therefore, you should focus your internet marketing efforts to the search engine.

When surfers browse search engines, they will be more inclined to view a site placed high on the search engine, as opposed to a site with poor search engine placement. With that in mind, you must use the correct internet marketing tools to build a strong (high) search engine ranking. This is where the term Search Engine Optimization is derived from. SEO, as it is called commonly, is a set of methods and tactics aimed at improving your search engine ranking and the visibility of your site in search engine results.

Search engines index sites in several ways, one of which is by looking at the keyword density of the web site, or the sites content. Content alone, is one of the most valuable internet marketing tools to utilize. If your site has excellent relevant keywords aimed towards achieving a high search engine ranking, as well as providing valuable information, you can expect a high search engine position. But because of the high competition of web sites using the same internet marketing methods, you must continuously find new and better ways of attracting targeted traffic.

Today, one of the most popular and effective internet marketing tools is the use of Pay Per Click advertising. This method involves bidding for a particular keyword in a specific search engine, the search engine then compares the bids of all the merchants for that specific keyword, and the highest bid gets the top placement for that specific keyword search. For example, if you bid $.75 and a competitor bids $.73, you will be awarded the higher position. This internet marketing tool is being utilized by thousands of web sites on hundreds of PPC search engines. Google Adwords, Yahoo Overture, and the new MSN Adcenter are the three most popular sites who offer pay per click ad services today.

Content and pay per click advertising are just two of many internet marketing tools that you can utilize to improve your search engine optimization and achieve high web site traffic. There are literally hundreds of other techniques and methods, both free and paid, that you can use successfully to increase your sites visitors and profits. Internet marketing tools are the true key to SEO and generating profits in the highly-competitive online business battlefront that we call the Internet.

Can You Really Get Rich Quick? A review

Can You Really Get Rich Quick? A review

Writen by Simone Wilson

The answer is yes and no. Of course there are many individuals who’ve created a considerable amount of wealth in a short time period, but let’s be realistic, that’s not going to happen to most of us. Today, many online marketers claim to offer “easy” strategies to earn income, when the truth is like any other way of making money, it takes WORK. The only difference is that with this type of work you don’t have a clock to punch and the most physically demanding task required is typing. You have to understand that most people (including myself) are generally lazy. We all want something for nothing, we dream of having the lifestyle of wealthy people, but few are willing to do what it takes to actually make it happen. Marketers know this, and they simply capitalize on this truth by creating advertising that appeals to our greed, and many of us led by laziness and sheer desperation fall victim to such claims--because we want to believe them. I know because I’ve done it!! I mean, who wouldn’t want to make money by barely lifting a finger?? Well I’m here to let you know if you think it’s that easy, you’re kidding yourself.

Now obviously I’m not stating that all claims of wealth creation online are false, however I do believe that too many marketers oversimplify the task. The truth is that there are thousands of ways to make money online; the hard part is finding a strategy that works for you and sticking to it. Lots of people end up spinning their wheels for months jumping from idea to idea or quitting if desired results aren’t achieved with a short time, and eventually give up after pulling their hair out and become discouraged. Don’t pull your hair out, find something that you have an interest in; for example if you want to become a drop-shipper, only focus you efforts on drop-shipping research and strategies. Adequate research is the key to making it online. Once you find your niche, conduct research on it. I also strongly encourage finding others who are in the same field, as it will benefit you to seek the guidance from vets who’re making money already; you can have all the motivation in the world, but without any direction, you’re left turning circles.

Lastly, don’t just stop at one source for information-which is how a lot of people set themselves up for disappointment. Instead, use different sources related to your topic in order to provide yourself with a solid foundation; once you have a starting point search other resources as well in order to develop a well-rounded strategy to start your business.

Attract More Orders

Attract More Orders

Writen by Jerry Durham

Attracting More Orders! Jump Starting Sales! Sky-Rocketing
Profits! Whatever you want to call it. It all boils down to one
thing, MORE TRAFFIC! And the different ways to get it. Here's
some more ideas to try.

Use a "P.S." or "Sig File", (signature file) at the end of
your ad copy. Repeat a strong benefit or a strong close like
a FREE ebook, ecourse, report or article that will
compliment your original ad copy.

Multiple streams of income are popular. Create a product,
promote it, join affialiate programs, promote them, sell
advertising space on your site or in your ezine, promote
that, create a membership site, promote it, etc. Have a few
products on your web site instead of a large amount of
products. Rotate your products out, while keeping the good
sellers in. To many choices can overwhelm your visitors and
they won't buy.

Take your customers to a "Thank You" web page after they
order that includes other products you sell. Click here to
see ThankYouAds.com - http://tinyurl.com/5kack .

Your web site should be a valuable resource for folks. Have
original content, links to other interesting web sites,
ebooks and software downloads, ecourses, etc. Your content
will be more attractive to your visitors if it's up-to-date
or original. You could also offer people the option to
reprint the content in their e-zine or web site.

A free online directory full of interesting ebooks, e-zines,
web sites etc. would be a valuable resource to visit over
and over.

Multiply your marketing and advertising efforts on the
Internet with "Viral Marketing" - There ain't no cure for
this disease! Even a "simple" form where you or someone
else wrote a report with your ad included in it and allowed
others to give it away. See the recent article on this at -
http://tinyurl.com/3zse4 .

Offer free online services or utilities from your web site.
They could be search engine submitting, copy writing
proofreading etc. The service or utility should be helpful
to your target audience.

Give free consulting to people who visit your web site. You
could offer your knowledge via e-mail or by telephone.
People will consider this a huge value because consulting
fees can be very expensive.

Receprical linking is very popular for all parties. Give
them a freebie in exchange for them linking to your web
site. It could be content, software, etc. Sites that provide
useful information or services may be good links for your
visitors. The more useful links on your site, and they may
make it their start page. This'll increase your ranking in
some search engines. (My experience has been folks just want
the exposure and are willing to link for free.)

Develop your own opt in email list by giving your visitors a
reason to give you their e-mail address. Allow them to sign up
for free stuff and content that promotes the products you're
selling. It's important to give something extra with the
free subscription.

Banner ads don't have to look like ads. Some folks ignore
banner ads. Make them look like content and have them click
to read the rest.

Chat rooms, forums or message systems are great ways to
interact with your online customers on a regular basis.
Folks want to interact with other people that have the
same interests as they do.

Your web site links should be checked regularly. After
people click on one link, and it doesn't work, they usually
won't risk wasting their time clicking on another one.

Full page solo ads to your opt in list could result in
increased sales.

10 Ways To Make Your Sales Soaring

10 Ways To Make Your Sales Soaring

Writen by Hans Peter Oswald

1. Maximize the effectiveness of your banner ads. Don't just use the same ad on every banner, use a variety to attract the greatest number of clickers. Use a banner system, which changes the banners at you website.See: http://www.domainregistry.de

2. Make your web site load much faster by cutting down on banner ads and start using more buttons. Button ads are also smaller and take up less space.

3. Offer free advertising space to well known and respected companies on your web site. Sometimes people link their business credibility to yours.

4. People have been taught all their life to respect people in authority. Tell your visitors that you are the president or CEO of your business.

5. Offer people a free telephone consultation before they order your product. When they get to know you personally, it could convert to more sales.

6. Test the "bill me later option" on your web site. Most people are honest and will pay you. It is a powerful little niche and could increase your sales.

7. Find a charity your target audience would likely support. Tell people on your ad copy that you will give a percentage of the profits to that charity. P.S.: You should do also, what you have promised.

8. Hold a "buy the most wins contest" on your web site. Tell people each monthly winner will get their entire purchase refunded.

9. Attract visitors to your web site by offering them a free course. You could package the course on a follow-up autoresponder and send lessons daily.

10. Interview people related to your industry and get their legal permission to convert it to an article. Promote your web site by submitting it to ezines, article banks like www.articlecity.com and blogs like http://www.20six.de/secura1 (Guestbook).

5 Ways To Explode Your Viral Marketing

5 Ways To Explode Your Viral Marketing

Writen by Anik Singal

We all know that viral marketing can be a very effective way to drive targeted traffic to your website, but do all viral marketing tools have to be ebooks or little reports? Absolutely not…

Before we start, let’s refresh our memory on exactly what viral marketing is. Viral marketing is a form of marketing where you get someone else to spread the word for you, just a virus works.

For example, if you give someone a free report, they like it, they pass it on to their friends and their friends pass it on to their friends. Basically the report has become a virus and is spreading exponentially.

You can see the power that this form of marketing has – over time it can really build up. But, if you really want yours to move fast, then you have to be unique.

Just giving away a free report has become too common – everyone is doing it!

So, here are 5 other great tools you can make viral while keeping the unique edge.

1. Freeware.

Freeware is software with that has your marketing message in it – a banner, URLs, etc. If you are not a programmer but like the idea of giving away some simple software, type "freeware +your niche" into Google, and look at the results.

If you find a program that interests you, contact the creator, and see if you can get him/her to add your marketing messages in exchange for actively promoting the software.

Simple, that way you don’t even have to make your own program. Or, if you want, just go to any freelance website and hire an inexpensive programmer to build you a small little program (this is very inexpensive).

2. Surveys and polls.

Many people love to share their opinions on anything and everything. Come up with a provocative poll question or interesting survey for your niche, then use it to drive traffic to your site.

If you can find a “controversial” topic you will get the most viral effect.

3. Tell a friend forms.

Especially effective in niche marketing. Simply adding a tell-a-friend form to your web site can, over time, significantly increase your traffic.

Many think that these forms do not work anymore, but I know from personal experience that they still work. A neat trick to get someone to use it is to offer them something for free in return – maybe another free report!

4. Your own forum or bulletin board.

Adding a forum or bulletin board to your site can be a great way to spread the word about your product or service. In fact, if there's no forum or newsgroup for your niche, you can create one - and reap the benefits of having targeted prospects come to your site regularly.

People get their friends to come participate in forums – it’s a great source of word-of-mouth advertising.

5. Blogging.

Creating a blog just for your niche is a way to get people to bookmark your site and come back over and over again. People also tend to spread the word about blogs they like rapidly. Offering your viral products on your blog gives them a reason to spread the word - plus it helps you get valuable traffic.

What will you write about? Progress reports and advice seem to be popular, as well as humorous blogs and running commentary on current events.

Blogs help build a community and communities are great word-of-mouth networks!

Well, there you have it – viral marketing can once again be a bit more exciting than just giving away free reports. Think outside the box, do something unique and viral marketing could be your next big traffic generator!

3 Cutting Edge Marketing Techniques for The New Year

3 Cutting Edge Marketing Techniques for The New Year

Writen by Carrie Reeder

Are you looking for new ways to market your website in the next year? Internet marketing is constantly in a state of change. Here are some of the ways you can change your marketing techniques in the next year to appeal to your visitors in a new way.

1. Spend more time focusing on quality content and less on flashy advertising - Internet users are becoming more and more banner blind. Anything that resembles an ad is now becoming invisible to the user. Focus on informing internet users about your product in a matter-of-fact way, appeal to their sense of logic.

2. Improve your site's user-friendliness - It is a necessity online nowadays to have a user friendly website. Internet users are always in a hurry, clicking around to find the information they are looking for. Make sure your visitors can find what they are looking for in a hurry or you will lose them completely.

3. Diversify your advertising techniques - There are so many different types of advertising available online now. Spend a little time learning about a new advertising technique. Branch out a little more to reach even more potential customers. Try writing an article or a press release, if you haven't done so in the past. Try a new PPC campaign or work on acquiring new links to your website.

A crucial part of advertising is changing with the times. Over the next year, focus on providing more quality content to your visitor and spend time networking with other websites to imbed your company name all over the internet.

Google Adsense Strategies and Tips

Google Adsense Strategies and Tips

Writen by Alden Smith

Adsense is beginning to make a huge impact on the affiliate marketing industry today. Because of this, weak affiliate merchants have the tendency to die faster than ever and ad networks will be losing their customers quickly.

If you are in a losing rather than winning in the affiliate program you are currently promoting, maybe it is about time to consider going into the Adsense marketing and start earning some real cash.

Google is readily providing well written and highly relevant ads that are closely chosen to match the content on your pages. You do not have to look for them yourselves as the search engine will be the doing the searching for you from other people’s source.

You also don't have to spend time in choosing different kind of ads for different pages. Google makes it very easy for you, with no codes to mess around for different affiliate programs.

You will be able to concentrate on providing good and quality content, as the search engines will be the ones finding the best ads in which to put your pages on.

You are still allowed to add Adsense ads even if you already have affiliate links on your site. It is prohibited, however, to imitate the look and feel of the Google ads for your affiliate links. One of the things you can do, however, is to utilize Google's custom palette to customize your Google ads, making them to appear a part of the web page itself. The idea here is to match background and links to match the theme of your site. People on the internet today are trained to click on a link that is blue, and if your Google ads have the same theme as your web page, it makes the Google ads appear to be a portion of your "content."

You can also filter up to 200 URLs. This gives you a chance to block ads for the sites that do not meet your guidelines, and also block competitors. Remember that it is unavoidable that Adsense may be competing for some space on web sites that all other revenues are sharing.

Owners of small sites are allowed to plug a bit of a code into their sites and instantly have relevant text ads that appeal to your visitors appear instantly on your pages. If you own many sites, you only need to apply once. Then ,you are issued a unique "publisher ID", which can be used on any site you currently own. A small snippet of Javascript is placed on your site in the location you wish the ads to appear in, and generally speaking, the ads from Goggle will appear in minutes. This ends the hassle of having to apply to many affiliate programs, and keeping track of many different URL's and user ID's and passwords.

As Google ads are very easy to customize, and can be placed anywhere on your site you wish, you can experiment with placement, colors, and themes. Many tricks are available to the resourceful webmaster, including adding images in conjunction with your Google ads to make them more noticeable.

The payment rates can vary extremely. The payment you will be receiving per click depends on how much advertisers are paying per click to advertise with the use of the AdWords. Advertisers can pay as little as 5 cents and as high as $10-12, sometimes even more than that too. Some savvy lawyers are currently paying as high as $75 for advertising the keyword mesothelioma! And you, as the ad publisher, are earning a share of that money generated.

If your results remain stagnant, it can help if you try and build simple and uncluttered pages so that the ads can catch the visitor’s eyes more. It sometimes pay to differ from the usual things that people are doing already. Google has many tutorials, including a "heat chart" which shows you where the best placement for ads are. You will need an account to access these tutorials. Sign up for an Adsense account at https://www.google.com/adsense/?sourceid=aso&subid=ww-et-awhome&hl=en_US. It is also a refreshing sight for your visitor once they see something different for a change.

It is still wise to look at other people’s information and format your Adsense in a like manner. A wise old business axiom is to "find a good business model, then copy it." Let others do the hard work for you, and learn from a successful site. Just think about it as doing yourself a favor by not having to work too hard to know what content to have. Look to sites that have high page rank, and carefully observe their layouts, their content, and placement of their ads. A little time spent doing research can put dollars in your pocket down the road.

Publishers have the option of choosing to have their ads displayed only on a certain site or sites. You can also have them displayed on a large network of sites if you so desire. Google now has the option to allow other people to advertise on your site. This only makes good sense. If you are marketing to a tightly defined niche, you can place your own ads, written by you, on site that allow this option. The choice is yours, depending on what you think will work best to your advantage.

It is important to note that you cannot choose certain topics only. If you do this, search engines will not place Adsense ads on your site and you will be missing out a great opportunity in making hundreds and even thousands of dollars cash.

Topics to be avoided includes gambling, firearms, ammunition, tobacco or drugs. If you are being offered more cash in exchange of doing Adsense with these kinds, it is just like signing your own termination paper.

With all the information that people need in your hands already, all you have to do is turn Google Adsense into your own cash cow. It all boils down to a win-win situation both for the content site owners and the webmasters or publishers.

Google Adsense Page Positioning

Google Adsense Page Positioning

Writen by Kenneth Elliott

Correct positioning of your Google adsense ads can make or break your success with the Google adsense program. Why is this true? Some studies suggest that eye positioning on website gravitate to particular sections of web pages. And if you don’t have the necessary ads in these positions you will not get the clicks.

I talked to countless people that have great traffic, some with 300 to 1000 new visitors a day that say that they only make approx. at max $10 to $20 dollars a month on the adsense program. What a shame. But when I look at their websites the ads are either buried in wording that no one usually pays attention to or the ads are located in positions that just don’t call any attention to their presence.

So were the best locations for you Google adsense ads. Well, I have found the number one best place for the ads are near or in proximity to your main menu. Why near your main menu. Because you know that visitors eyes will and always look for the menu structure of your website. So the common places for placement should be to the top right, the very top under your menu, or the top left. These are the most common locations for you main menu.

But what about the color scheme of the Google adsense ads? Yes, color is very important. You have to make the ads looks as seamless as possible. Here is an example on one of my website http://www.isaved-home-decor.com. Here I decided to position the ads at the very top right under my main menu. In direct eye contact. Also, remove the borders; just these two changes will increase your adsense proceeds one hundred percent.

By using these tactics I was able to increase my adsense click through rate significantly depending on traffic level and people's interest.

Take my advice and give it try. I believe you will see a change and hopefully make adsense a more pleasurable experience.

Google Adsense - A Website Income

Google Adsense - A Website Income

Writen by Terry Till

Many of us have websites and as a matter of course join the Google Adsense plan and place the appropriate script code on our web pages. Taking for granted that visitors will come to our web pages and quite happily click on these Google Adsense ads and consequentially we will make money.

However, having experimented with the placement of Google ads and reading as much information on the subject as possible there is far more to it than just putting the ad anywhere on your web page.

Positioning of the Goole Adsense script is critical and it is a proven fact that placing the ad at the top central position of your web page directly beneath your header banner and before your body text is a prime target area. Equally enough so is placing your Google Adsense ad on the top left position of your left sidebar? Both of these can result in you gaining a higher click through rate and a better CPM figure.

Just as important as the positioning of your ad is also the way it is presented and you should not just accept the default settings. It is far better to select the background colour of the ad to match the background colour of your web site and this also applies to the ads border colour.

Pay careful attention also to the Google Adsense link colours, if possible it is far more effective to match these colours to the same colour as you use for your main body text.

As with all things on the internet you really need to experiment with your website and try various configurations but follow these few simple rules and I think you will find a marked increase in your Google income will soon appear.

7 Great Tips To Improve Your Traffic Generation

Google Ad programs

Google Ad programs

Writen by Ravi Chamria

Several advertisement programs for both advertisers and publishers are in the internet market but Google’s Adsense and Adword programs are unique and affordable. The very concept of having two complementary programs from the same company generates lot of trust and value proposition for the shareholders.

AdWords program

Adwords is Google’s pay-per-click advertising program whereas Adsense is a publisher program. Google AdWords ads connect you with new customers at the precise moment when they're looking for your products or services. The Google Network reaches more than 80% of Internet users.* (*Media Metrix, December 2003 )

With Google AdWords you create your own ads, choose keywords to help us match your ads to your audience and pay only when someone clicks on them. You have complete control of your budget as you only pay when your ad is clicked on and you can set your very own daily limits for what you are willing to pay. There is no minimum budget or locked in time that you have to run your campaign. You choose the keywords you want to target, so you get targeted traffic from your ads - people who are looking for specifically what you have to offer.

There are various tools like keyword builder to help you build adwords and very user-friendly reports to track the progress of your keywords and improve them to generate desired results over the time. In the end, you get good quality traffic, better sales and positioning in the Internet market.

And above all, Google’s quick, friendly and knowledgeable support is truly one of the best customer support one can find. I know all that sounds pretty similar to other pay-per-click programs, but now let's take a look at the other side i.e. AdSense program.

AdSense Program

Google AdSense is a fast and easy way for website publishers of all sizes to display relevant Google ads on their website's content pages and earn money. Because the ads are related to what your visitors are looking for on your site — or matched to the characteristics and interests of the visitors your content attracts — you'll finally have a way to both monetize and enhance your content pages.

It's also a way for website publishers to provide Google web and site search to their visitors, As a website operator, you can choose keywords for the AdSense program that are relevant to the content you provide. The keywords will draw in relative advertisements to be displayed on your website, things that your browsers are interested in, which adds value to the information provided to your visitors. When your website visitors click on a Google Ad, you gain revenue from that click. Providing high quality, relative content is key to making money with AdSense.

Now Google has started special Adsense program for its blog www.blogger.com.

We have been using Google’s Adsense and Adword program for the last three years on more than twenty websites like www.dhandaulat.com, www.articlesworld.com and we have got amazing results both in terms of advertisement and publisher revenues.

AdWords and AdSense are win-win propositions for both potential advertisers and website owners. Advertisers get targeted traffic to their websites at minimal costs and website operators make money for having the ads displayed on their websites. AdWords and AdSense are welcomed additions to the world of e-business and internet marketing.

Google Ad Scheduling

Google Ad Scheduling

Writen by Helen M. Overland

Finally! Google has introduced Ad scheduling for AdWords. This new system allows advertisers to choose when ads should appear, and how much each ad should cost.

To access the dayparting features in Adwords, just edit your campaign settings. Click on "Turn on ad scheduling". You will have to specify a time zone if you have not already done so. Now you can specify the time periods your ads will appear. For example, if your B2B customers are located in the U.S. and Japan, you can specify that your ads only be shown during business hours in those areas. If you are directly targeting consumers, and you know that your customers are more likely to buy during the usual "after dinner" hours, you can specify that your ads only be shown during this time. There is also the control of adding several day parts within each day.

To make life easier, you can also do a "bulk edit". This means you can specify hours of the day, and apply them to every day of the week. The default setting is to have all the ads on all the time.

You have even more control when switching to advanced mode for Ad Scheduling. You can specify how much you want to pay for each ad. If you know that your customers buy more during the hours of 9-5pm, you can up your bid to 130%, for example. If your normal max bid is $1.00, then during the specified hours, your max bid becomes $1.30. After the time period ends, your max bid reverts back to $1.00. During low-conversion hours you can pay less for an ad - just specify a lower bid percentage.

Bear in mind, however, that the time of day on which all this is based is your time zone. Your ads will appear within the time frames you specify in your own time zone. Make sure you allow for different time zones when specifying your ad scheduling. If you are in EST, allow 3 extra hours for those in PST.

According to Google, Ad scheduling will not generally affect your budget. Remember, however, that there is the risk that Google may not be able to spend all of your budget if you specify too narrow a time frame, or too low a bid price.

Of course, maximizing the power of ad scheduling will require some testing. Check your analytics program for the best conversion times, and see what happens when you raise or lower your bid prices. Remember, however, that sometimes customers may require some time before they actually buy something. A customer who finds your site on their lunch break may not be purchasing until after dinnertime at home. It will require some analysis before you can be sure that you are getting the most out of Adwords ad scheduling.

All in all, Ad scheduling for AdWords is a feature that has the potential to really improve the efficiency of your ad spend, if you are willing to put in the time. Google dayparting is a feature that has been long in coming.

Affiliate Strategies Of Pay Per Click Search Engines

Affiliate Strategies Of Pay Per Click Search Engines

Writen by Stan Hauser

Where are your ads being displayed?

The Untold Secret Of Pay Per Click Advertising:

An often misunderstood reality of Pay-Per-Click advertising is that many times you can't determine where you ad will be displayed once you sign-up with one of the PPC Search Engines. In the incestuous world of online advertising, companies are often simultaneously competitors and partners. This is never more true than in the case of Search Engine Advertising.

Even The Big Guys Do It:

If the Pay-Per-Click program you're using is from one of the major brands that has it's own consumer search destination site (Google, Yahoo, Lycos etc,) it's a little easier to tell where your ads will show up. However, even if you're working with the major players, your ads won't be limited to the Search Engine you signed up with. For example, Google has agreements with Lycos, Ask Jeeves, AOL, and other lesser known brands, to display ads from the Google AdWords program. Yahoo has relationships with MSN, and CNN.Com to display ads from its Overture Pay Per Click Program. Lycos owns HotBot.Com and has partnered with affiliates outside its network to increase the distribution of ads from the Lycos AdBuyer Pay Per Click program.

Distribution Strategies Of Smaller Search Engines:

Once you go beyond the major Pay Per Click Advertising programs it becomes increasingly difficult to know where your ads will appear. Most of the second tier Search Engines rely exclusively on networks of unknown sites for their distribution. FindWhat.Com, Kanoodle, Enhance and Search 123 don't operate sites that consumers use to search the web. Because of this they have developed relationships with thousands of smaller sites to display ads from customers who sign up for their Pay Per Click programs.

Affiliate Traffic Isn't Necessarily Bad:

Just because a Pay Per Click Advertising program doesn't have its own search site to drive traffic doesn't necessarily mean that the traffic is of lesser quality. Like everything else when it comes to a successful PPC Advertising campaign, the key is to track and analyze results on a daily basis. Set-up independent tracking URL's for each PPC Search Engine you are working with, or use a third party tracking tool like Atlas One Point to track how many clicks you're getting from each Search Engine, and how much of the traffic is converting into sales.

Can You Cherry Pick Affiliates?

As a rule, most Search Engines won't divulge the list of affiliates they are working with to display your ads. Even if you are able to determine which affiliate sites are converting better for you than others, the Search Engines generally won't allow you to cherry pick which affiliates will display your ad. However, some Pay Per Click Search Engines like Google allow you to opt out of their affiliate network.

Conclusion:

Driving traffic by displaying ads across a network of affiliate sites is a fact of life for Pay Per Click Search Engines. It's not necessarily bad, but it is something you need to be aware of as you analyze which PPC Search Engines to use, and which ones perform. By displaying your ad on affiliate sites your marketing message is put in front of more people who are looking for the products you sell. The downside is once you move beyond the big brands and venture into the vast mysterious world of affiliate networks, there is a chance the quality of your traffic will decline. As long as you monitor your traffic sources for volume, and conversions, and adjust your campaigns accordingly you should be able to benefit from the increased distribution affiliates provide, while maintaining the profitability metrics for your Pay Per Click Advertising campaign.

Adwords: The Numbers Game

Adwords: The Numbers Game

Writen by M. Levenhagen

I’ve been promoting affiliate programs with Adwords for almost 3 years. And if there is a reoccurring phrase that I say over and over to those I coach, it is that this is a numbers game.

If you do enough research and launch enough campaigns and ad groups, you will find clicks and sales. I see people ask in public and private forums, “Can money be made with Adwords?” And the answer to that question is straightforward and simple. “Yes.”

Unfortunately like all things in business and advertising, it takes work and testing to find that money. And Adwords is not an easy game to play. It is a complex game to play. There are a lot of variables involved and a lot of different features and options that Google gives you to find that profit or to help you improve your Return on Investment.

Generally there are two roads that an individual or company will take with Adwords. They will 1) use it to promote their own products and services or 2) use it to promote other merchants products and services (affiliate marketing). There’s shades of these, but those are the general roads that a marketer or business will take with Google Adwords.

I believe there is probably some confusion online because these are two very, very different roads. Someone that is asking if you can make money with Adwords that is promoting their own product or service is probably getting answers from individuals that are doing affiliate marketing and vice versa.

I personally promote both. I’m an affiliate marketer and have my own products and websites I promote with Adwords. And I know numbers well as I have launched and tested 100s of campaigns over that last few years.

Here is something important to understand about advertising using Google Adwords. Not every product will sell or be profitable using this method of advertising. No matter how good you are and what methods you use, there is a better chance then not that you will fail.

I know that may sound shocking and that isn’t something you will hear to often, but it’s very true.

Here’s why I know that and why someone that only plans on promoting their one product or service will stand a better chance of not finding success with Adwords then finding success. Being that I am an affiliate marketer I am able to test an affiliate program and if it doesn’t work, dump it and move to the next. I have zero time in development and the only money I risk is through advertising.

My numbers are the following. Roughly I see that 1 in 10 merchants I promote (products and services) will find profit. Using the methods I use, it’s not a problem because I quickly test those 10 merchants and markets and spend only a few dollars in the process. If a merchant and market combination doesn’t sell, I simply delete the campaign and move on.

Now with that in mind, can you clearly see how difficult it might be for a merchant with a limited market to find success with Adwords. And this isn’t taking into account the importance of the methods you use. And it also isn’t taking into account how much money you’ll make when you do find a winning campaign. Markets are only so big.

If only 1 in 10 products will even find profit, that means every person or business that tries to promote their products or services with Adwords will most likely fail. In fact, with the experience factor (lack of) the numbers are probably more like 1 in 20 or more.

As an affiliate marketer I understand this going in. I understand I will fail more often then I will find success with a merchant and market. So knowing that, I accept the risk and simply look for the next winner which I will keep and make more profitable over time.

This is something that needs to be understood. There are only so many markets out there and so many niches to fill. If you can’t compete or find clicks and if it’s your one and only product, you aren’t going to make money.

The affiliate marketer on the other hand, who can try 100s and 1000s of products and services in just as many markets, has nothing to worry about. It’s a numbers game and they will keep putting up the campaigns until they find profit.

AdWords Campaign Set Up Tips

AdWords Campaign Set Up Tips

Writen by Chris Burgess

It's easy to overlook the basics of a strong AdWords campaign. Without them though, your AdWords campaign can be doomed from the very start. Follow these tips and you can be sure that your campaign will have a strong foundation for both short term and immediate success.

Use Proper Grammar and Spelling

It may sound basic, but ad text that uses slang, has misspelled words or doesn't read clearly isn't going to get clicked. If anything it makes your business seem unprofessional and could actually harm your business' reputation.

Make sure that you spell and grammar check your ads. You might also have a friend, co-worker or employee read through the ad text to make sure that it reads smoothly and makes sense. Input from others is invaluable when creating AdWords ads.

Start Small With Geographical Targeting

If you're just starting out, try limiting your ad's distribution to one or two regions (e.g. for businesses based in North America, limit your initial distribution to the U.S.A and Canada). By starting with a smaller distribution area, you will be able to keep your costs lower and "fine tune" your ads and keywords before you start to expand.

When you feel comfortable that your AdWords ads are profitable, start to expand several countries or regions at a time.

Scout the Competition

Chances are, no matter what kind of product you are selling, you will have a competitor who is already selling something similar and advertising it on AdWords. Search for the terms you wish to use on Google to see what kinds of ads your competitors are writing.

You might even try a tool like GoogSpy to see exactly what terms your competitors are buying.

Pay close attention to the terms they use, the deals or incentives they offer and the titles they use. You can learn a lot from your competitors. You don't want your ads to be exactly like theirs, but you can use elements from each competitor to make your ads perform even better.

Adwords Conversion Tracking

Adwords Conversion Tracking

Writen by Peter Vermeeren

Are you using Google Adwords to promote your product or service? Are you getting the results you want? You'll only know this information if you are tracking the conversion rates of the click-through you are paying for. Then, depending on what you learn about the conversions, you may need to refine your campaign.

A conversion rate is defined as the percentage of people who actually purchase your product or service compared to the number of people who came to your website by clicking on your Adwords ad. This number is the conversation percentage and the higher the percentage, the more effective your ad campaign. If you have extremely low numbers, you need to do something to increase those numbers such as refine your ads or choose better keywords or websites for displaying the ads.

Google provides inside the Adwords application a tool for tracking conversions for each campaign and each ad you run. This allows you to learn what your rates are and see which ads are doing their job well. If one ad or a whole campaign isn't doing well, then you can look for patterns that can clue you in about how to change and make the campaign more effective.

Adwords conversions are driven by many factors. It is not sufficient of your ad to get the user to click through to your website, although that is the first step. The ultimate goal is to make a sale or create a valid lead that will bring in a future sale. Whether you goal is to get the visitor to sign up for a newsletter or to purchase a product or service, if that visitor fails to do what you wish, then you have not converted that visitor. How many convert once they see your website is controlled by you. How attractive is your website? Is it truly compelling, making the visitor believe they simply can't live without the product or service your offer? Is the website easy to navigate or is it not very user friendly? Are your sales claims believable or do they seem to be unrealistic? Do you have data to support your claims? These are all factors that are within your power to control.

Even the greatest Google Adwords campaign won't generate conversions into sales or sign-ups if the website the visitor sees is ugly, hard to use or doesn't offer what the advertisement stated. One example seen all too often is the Google ad that indicates "free" but the visitor find that they actually have to pay. Be sure that your website offers exactly what your Google Adwords campaign promises. If you tell the visitor they will find something for "free" then it must be there and it must be free of charge.

Adsense Sandbox?

Adsense Sandbox?

Writen by Darren Yates

Is my site in the Adsense sandbox?

Does it even exist? It could be I have evidence.

A few months ago I saw a spike in traffic to a site of mine.

This site has real-time visitor stats available including the IP origin of all visitors on the site. It's easy to lookup the IP and see where the traffic originated. When I did this I discovered that the traffic was coming from Google Inc. At one point over a few days I had 20 visitors together on the site all from Google HQ.

This continued over a few weeks, although the number on site from Google simultaneously never matched the 20 again, I witnessed a steady hit rate throughout each day, some days reaching 10 or so Google HQ visitors at one time. But mostly they would pop up in 2's and 3's.

I still get these visitors... checking the site now and there is at least one Google employee on the site, there may be more. I recognize this one IP at least without checking.

It became obvious that my site was being watched and monitored by Google staff. I said hello via the sites broadcast system once or twice just for the fun of it. :)

Anyway, again a few months ago a trend began which involved placing images near your Adsense ads to catch the visitors' eye, in the hope that they would then read the ads nearby and click through. I believe I was one of the first to have these images up and running and this could be what got me spotted by Google.

The result of all this was two fold.

First of all, Google has been doing some serious 'messing' with the display format of my ads. With a few Adsense blocks on a page I find more often than not many are disabled in favour of the leaderboard only across the top of the pages. But then much of the time the leaderboard will display just 1 or 2 Adsense ads rather than the usual 4.

This is fine; they're optimizing my ads for better CTR(Click Through Rate), great. But that's not all they're doing, they're tweaking the display of my ads in an annoying way. Every single Adsense ad has a thin black border around it. This is not configurable in the code at my end but something that Google have added at their end.

This wouldn't be so bad but for the Adsense ads that they don't display still having this thin black border. Essentially I finish up with pages that have big black squares or rectangles of empty space where the Adsense ads should be. Which is obviously not good for the look of the site especially if this is on an empty square ad in the middle of the page copy.

I've been watching this happen now for around 6 weeks.

The other, much better, upshot of all this is that following the Jagger update Google have really got their teeth into this site and started to throw lots of traffic at it from across their world network. I see visitors from Google searches in India, Norway, Germany, Auz, Arabia etc. Which is great. The monitoring has definitely had a positive effect.

My conclusion is that I popped up on the Google radar, they monitored me, and continue to, but decided that the site wasn't breaking any TOS and more importantly it wasn't a spam site.

I hope to see them drop those black borders soon, surely it can't be helping the CTR on the Adsense?

Take a look at those borders here - www.how-to-make-money-online.info

So it seems that popping up on the Google radar isn't such a bad thing. I certainly appreciate the extra site traffic. :)

Adsense Marketing: Brand Performance

Adsense Marketing: Brand Performance

Writen by Jan Verhoeff

Google developed a prime product, Adsense. Marketing your website through key words, brand performance, and Adsense is an entirely new means of promoting your focus. As the rest of the world wonders what happened, those with an understanding of the particulars, in this case, KEYWORDS, trump the market.

Traffic to your site requires keyword rich content that will not only get the reader there, but keep them there, and bring them back, frequently. The trailer of this market is a resounding thud against equality, and packs a punch recognizable due to strategic style and market abundance. Where do you get your traffic?

What keyword wraps your business website in functional traffic building content? Recently, I started focusing my interests on keyword profiles and optimal qualifiers. This process moves my articles, my websites, and my work into the forefront of marketing, bringing more traffic to my site. By branding my site, and my work with keywords, the content become rich and recognizable by web crawlers bringing even more traffic.

The depth of focus brought to my sites at this point in time, means my plan is working. More clicks equals more bucks in my pocket.

So, what’s in it for you, my reader?

More clicks. By reading and understanding how to work the system to improve your visibility through marketing keywords and content rich information, your site gains traffic and you earn more money.

Strategy:

1. Have a website oriented to market your product with keyword rich content relating to your product and your market.

2. Promote your focus with keyword rich articles written specifically for your market niche.

3. Promote link back capabilities with the articles you write.

4. Develop traffic promotionals that bring back your client time and time again, encourage them to send friends to your site, and provide content interesting to new clients.

5. Be recognizable. Have brand recognition by narrowing your scope to a specific niche of the market.

Capitalize on the market available to your niche by using relative keywords focused specifically to your content and product. This brings readers who are interested in your product to your site, and helps narrow the lineup, while promoting your product to more of those who are interested in more information. A focused customer with a specific interest in your product and service is far more likely to hang around and purchase something off your site than one who accidentally came across your site while surfing the net looking for something unrelated.

Select your keywords with care, to bring in specific people to the site. This helps focus your readers, and your articles to better serve the common good of your web design. Broad scopes just don’t work. Get a niche and stay in it.

Adsense Optimization

Adsense Optimization

Writen by Pradip Patil

A lot of webpages out there have adsense on them lately. What is Adsense? Adsense is a PPC Advertising system (Pay Per Click) launched by the web's now biggest search engine Google.

Adsense's PPC system basically works by allowing webmasters to place ads on their websites quickly and easily. The ads are not random either, they are targeted to the website's content (Which usually means higher click through ratios). Other webmasters, who want visitors their website pay for each click one of the ads placed on some webpage generates to their site.

I know what Adsense is now just tell me how to optimize!

Yeah, you really wouldn't care about this article if you didnt know what Adsense was, well anyways. Even though the Adsense ads are optimized, most sites dont really make a respectable amount of money from it. Why? Because most sites place their ads so that they LOOK like ADS. This THE single most biggest reason why no one gives a rats ass about your Adsense unit on your webpage.

In the eyes of web surfers, Ads are evil

ANY vistor to ANY site probably will NOT click on something that they know is a advertisement. Even if the information or product the ad is promoting is of their interest (take this with a grain of salt, if something is interesting enough people will click on it, so don't try to make all of your units tricky), most people think of them as a waste of time. Because of this "AdPhobia" you have to get a little crafty.

You have to make your ads look like you placed them there intentionally as if they were something important relating to your product/subject/service. Often times, unlike tricky banner/pop-ads, your trick Adsense ad will not annoy the user because it is really relevant.

So how do I make them not scream "ADS!"?

Most people know a link is an ad if the link is placed in a unusual location (away from the links that the user already knows are content links around your site). The other big give away is a different look than the rest of the links.

So basically, you need to blend in your adsense units. How do you blend them in? Simple, when getting your adsense code, simply change the background and border color to the background color of the location where your're planning to put the unit in your site.

This alone wont cut it though, also make sure that you place your adsense unit in the middle of your articles or content to make it look like it belongs there because it is relevant. One more thing, DO NOT OVERLOOK LINK UNITS. They are VERY effective if used correctly. Place link units in square format near your vertical navigation bars, or if you can horizontally near your horizontal navigation bar.

This will really boost clicks to your links.

Thats all, just keep those things is mind and you should see your Adsense revenue rise.
